Get Rid Of Acne Caused By Dandruff

Dandruff is a really embarrassing condition. But did you know that dandruff can also be one of the reasons behind those annoying acne breakouts? The dry flakes are a common symptom of dandruff and these flakes can clog open pores of the skin, causing acne. Dandruff can make things worse if your skin is already acne-prone.

Dry scalp and dry hair can cause dandruff. Some of the other common factors are weather conditions, hair products, and poor hair care routine.

Acne is a skin condition that is caused due to excess oil produced by the oil glands and dead skin cells. If not treated properly, acne can leave stubborn marks on the skin. It is common in teenagers, but can also affect people of any age group.

How Is Dandruff Related To Acne?
Acne and dandruff have one common cause - hormonal imbalance. Malassezia globosa, a microbe that naturally occurs on the skin, breaks down sebum that is produced by the oil glands. An acid known as oleic acid is produced during this process. People who are sensitive to this acid develop dandruff.

The excess oil production and the dead skin cells, along with other skin impurities block the skin pores. These clogged pores result in acne. The clogged pores are further infected by the bacteria living on the skin. This leads to the symptoms of acne. Dandruff makes the scalp flaky and dry. The dry flakes can sometimes clog pores on the face. If you already have pimples, dandruff can worsen it.

Even though acne and dandruff have different causes, oil production is something that commonly triggers both. During puberty, oil glands increase oil production due to the hormonal changes. This leads to the development of acne and dandruff at the same time.

Simple ways in which you can avoid acne caused due to dandruff:
-          Use an anti-dandruff shampoo: Removing dandruff is the best way to avoid acne breakouts caused by dandruff. Anti-dandruff shampoos can remove the excess oil from your scalp and make it healthy.
-          Keep your hair off your face: Tie your hair into a ponytail or use a hair band to keep your hair away from the face. This will ensure that there is no contact between dandruff and your skin.
-          Hot oil massage: This can ensure that your scalp stays healthy and doesn’t become dry. Massage your scalp with hot oil at least once a week.
-          Brush your hair well: Brushing your hair frequently can help keep dandruff away from your skin. It removes the dry flakes from your scalp and doesn’t give it a chance to come in contact with your face.

Acne-scars and pimple marks dull your skin and take away your skin’s natural glow. These marks and scars are stubborn and don’t go away easily. One solution to this problem is here and that’s Chemical Peeling Treatment. Chemical peels use mild chemical solutions to remove the dead skin cells, giving way to the fresh, smooth skin that is hiding underneath. This method of acne treatment deeply exfoliates your skin and leaves you with younger looking skin after the treatment.

There are different chemical peels that are available. Talking to a dermatologist will help you understand which chemical peel will suit your skin best. Based on your skin analysis, Kaya’s in-house dermatologists will customize the best chemical peel treatment according to your skin’s requirements.

A Superficial peel gently exfoliates your skin using a mild acid - Alpha-hydroxyl. This acid helps in the breakdown of dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin. It treats rough skin, and discoloration and leaves you with a fresh and younger looking skin.

A Medium Peel reaches the outer layer as well as the middle layers of your skin to remove the damaged cells from within. The Glycolic Acid in this peel helps restore an even-toned skin complexion and reduce age spots, pimple scars, and any other skin discoloration.

A Deep Peel uses Trichloroacetic Acid to reach the middle layers of your skin and reduce deep acne and pimple scars. This treatment for acne scars is said to be very effective as it shows dramatic improvement in the appearance of your skin.

Depending on your skin type and severity of skin damage, a trained professional may advise any of these peels. Kaya’s Intense Clarity Peel treatment for acne scars developed by the in-house dermatologists is suitable for all skin types. With its depigmentation and natural skin lightening properties, this acne treatment gently exfoliates your skin and reduces dark spots and uneven skin tones. Know the Types and Stages of Acne and How to Treat Them

The trials and tribulations of acne are endless as this skin condition can be extremely difficult to tackle. And, when it comes to acne, there is more than what meets the eye. There are various types and stages, and having proper knowledge about these is essential for effective acne treatment.

What is Acne?

Acne is an exceedingly common long-term inflammatory skin condition that occurs when the hair follicles in your skin get clogged with elements like dead skin cells, oil, and other impurities. While acne usually occurs on the face, it may also affect different body parts like the neck, shoulders, and back. A variety of factors like genetics, hormones, unhealthy lifestyle habits, lack of proper skin care, improper diet, and even certain medications, can put you at a higher risk of developing this skin disease.

Types of Acne

Acne Vulgaris – If you experience frequent acne breakouts, then there is a high chance that you are suffering from this particular type of acne. This condition tends to progress into more serious forms of acne, which is why it is best to consult with a specialist to get a diagnosis. As early detection can save you from a great deal of discomfort.

Cystic Acne – This is a severe form of acne, in which you would experience rather serious inflammation. The blemishes caused by this type of acne tend to be quite big and cause a great deal of pain. This acne type can cause long-term damage to the health of your skin and it usually takes weeks to go away.

Comedonal Acne – This type of acne occurs in the form of blackheads, whiteheads, and milia. It is more likely to affect you if your skin has open pores.

Acne Rosacea – This type of acne only occurs on the face and usually affects those who are above the age of 30. In this type, you will experience bumpy and inflamed pimples.

Nodular Acne – This, again, is a severe acne type that can cause your skin to break out on a regular basis. Also, the breakouts caused by nodular acne tend to be large and the resulting blemishes can be quite deep.

Stages of Acne

Listed below are the 3 stages of acne in terms of severity.

Mild – This is the stage in which you will experience a few acne breakouts. At this stage, it is fairly easy to tackle the condition. You may just require a store-bought anti-acne product to reduce the breakouts and a pimple marks removal cream to reduce the visibility of the pimple marks.

Moderate – At this stage, you will find that the breakouts are quite prominent, and your skin is plagued with papules and pustules. If your acne is in the moderate stage, then you may find it difficult to bring the breakouts under control just by using over-the-counter products.

Severe – In this stage, you will experience severely large blemishes that are red and highly inflamed. This stage of acne can be extremely painful, and the breakouts tend to occur frequently.

How to Treat Acne?

When it comes to treating this skin condition, the right treatment can make a world of difference to the frequency and severity of acne. While store-bought acne products continue to be the most popular way of tackling this skin condition, a variety of cosmetic procedures have also made waves in the beauty industry thanks to their efficacy. They reduce acne and also the prominence of pimple marks, the unsightly spots that make your skin tone appear uneven.

Premenstrual Acne - What Is It And How To Prevent It

Have you ever had acne breakouts a week or ten days before your monthly periods? This is premenstrual acne, caused by changes in hormone levels. There are effective ways to treat and prevent this type of acne.

Why Do Women Get Premenstrual Acne?

Your menstrual cycle involves fluctuations in hormone levels. Besides producing female hormones like estrogen and progesterone, a woman's body also makes male hormones called Androgens, in smaller amounts than in men.
Androgen hormones like testosterone can cause your sebum glands to produce more of this natural skin lubricant. Sebum in the normal levels keeps your skin healthy, hydrated, and supple. However, Androgens can trigger excess sebum secretion. This can cause clogged skin pores.
The sticky sebum then collects hair fragments and dirt, and this can cause blackheads and whiteheads, the early stage of acne. Then, the dirt becomes a good environment for bacterial growth, causing pimples, pustules and papules.
When estrogen and other female hormone levels drop in the latter half of your menstruation cycle, the balance of female to male hormones gets disturbed. There is a proportional increase in male hormones, which can stimulate the sebum glands to produce more than normal levels of sebum.
This is why many women suffer from premenstrual acne.

How to Treat and Prevent Premenstrual Acne

There are many methods used to treat this type of acne. You can use topical applications, pills, facial therapies etc.
You can try using birth control pills, which help reduce androgen levels and so help reduce sebum production. However, this treatment is not advisable for everyone, and it can have some adverse side effects. Get all the details from your doctor before you begin using contraceptives as acne treatment.
You can use retinol creams, these are considered as the best best cream for pimples. They slough off dead skin cells, stimulate the growth of new skin tissues and also kick start collagen production. Collagen is a structural protein that gives form and volume to skin. This can also be a treatment for acne scars, as collagen can fill out the pits and fine wrinkles caused by acne.
You can use salicylic creams or topical applications that contain Benzoyl Peroxide. They induce exfoliation, and Benzoyl Peroxide can also reduce skin oil level. However, this can leave your skin feeling dry, so ask your doctor before you use this. Avoid this treatment if you have sensitive skin.
Antibiotics are also used in acne treatment, to control the bacteria that causes severe acne breakouts.

Prevention Measures

●     Practice good hygiene, avoid frequently touching your face with your hands, this can transfer microorganisms from your hand to your face
●     Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser or mild soap twice everyday
●     If you have oily skin, use gel-based skin care products rather than oil-based ones
●     Exfoliate regularly. Ask your doctor on how frequently you can exfoliate depending on your skin type
●     Try some good Acne treatments like Kaya Black Peel Treatment, which uses organic materials and vitamins and minerals to exfoliate, cleanse and nourish your skin. The peel eventually results in the growth of healthy new skin to replace dull and damaged skin
You can also add Kaya Advanced Acne Care Kit to your skin care arsenal.

Kaya Acne Care Set

A Salicylic Acid Cleanser: Salicylic Acid is a commonly used treatment for acne. It cleanses your face, gently exfoliates, remove dirt and reduces excess oil. This cleanser also contains olive oil that helps in keeping your skin hydrated and nourished, even as it is cleansed.

Achieve Clear Skin with Kaya’s Advanced Acne Kit

There are millions of people suffering from acne around the world. And in recent years, acne breakouts have increased a lot more. This is because of a variety of factors new age like pollution, increasing stress levels and increased consumption of junk food. What if we told you that it is easy to get rid of stubborn acne? Kaya’s Advanced Acne Care Kit can help you get clear skin with simple steps.

Why do you get acne?

Most times acne can be reduced or prevented with simple skin care methods like cleansing frequently, consuming enough water, etc. But when these steps don’t seem to help, then the cause might be much bigger than just a small infection. Changing hormones in your body and sebum on your skin can interact with an acne-causing bacteria called Propionibacterium and cause stubborn acne.
Our body does everything in its power to keep it safe and sound. The same happens on the skin surface. To keep the skin supple and healthy, sebaceous glands produce an oil called sebum. But sometimes, this oil gets mixed with dirt and gets trapped in your skin’s pores. This environment helps the acne-causing bacteria to multiply, causing an infection.
As the bacteria multiply, your immune system kicks in, causing pus, redness, and itchiness along with acne breakouts. Your face is most prone to acne, but it can also occur on other parts of your body.

How to care for acne-prone skin?

Simple home remedies like cleansing your skin frequently, using non-comedogenic creams, exfoliating every now and then, can help you fight acne and pimples. A daily regime of a cleanser, a toner, and a moisturizer can also work wonders.
With Kaya’s Advanced Acne Care Kit, you can make sure that you get these simple steps right. It comes with four unique products that can help you get rid of acne with just four simple steps. Each of these products is dermatologically tested and are non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic.

Comedonal Acne and Its Treatment

Acnes, pimples, zits, breakouts - all are words that bring visions of blemishes on your skin. However hard you try to avoid skin troubles, these conditions affect everyone from time to time, even those with healthy, glowing skin. Comedonal acnes commonly affect teens, but can also appear in adults.

What is Comedonal Acne?
Comedonal acne includes the blackheads and whiteheads typically caused by blocked skin pores. They constitute a mild, early stage of more severe forms of acne. In comedonal acne, the affected area has a lot of whiteheads and blackheads.
Comedones occur when skin pores get blocked. The body produces a natural oil called sebum, which in normal quantity keeps your skin healthy and supple. However, hormonal imbalances that occur during puberty, pregnancy, and also when you take hormone control medications can trigger an increase in sebum production.
This excessive amount of sebum then accumulates in skin pores. Usually, the sebum flows out naturally on to your skin and so there is no problem. However, when a lot of sebum collects in pores, hair follicles and dead skin cells and dirt can partially or fully block the pores. This results in bumps and lesions on the skin, called comedones.
Blackheads: These are labeled as open comedones. When the blocked pores are not fully closed, the exposure to air oxidises the sebum which becomes darker and hardens. These spots are called blackheads.
Whiteheads: These occur when the clogged pores are covered by a thin layer of skin. As the pores are not exposed directly to the air, the clogged pores do not become discolored. However, the sebum and other debris that collect in these pores slightly pushes up the skin, forming skin colored bumps, called whiteheads.
Considering other skin conditions, comedonal acne is actually a mild beast, but you need to tame this condition before it gets out of hand. If left untreated, this form of acne could turn into inflamed acne breakouts.
While acne can affect people with different skin types, it's generally oily skin that is easily vulnerable to breakouts. This is because oily skin normally produces a lot of sebum and even a small spike in sebum levels can cause clogged pores and comedones.
Comedonal Acne Treatment
●     Wash your face twice a day and use moisturisers and sunscreens appropriate for your skin type. When you have acne issues, avoid using oil or creamy skin care products. Instead, use light texture products that do not leave an oily coating on your skin.
●     To treat comedones, consult your doctor. There are over the counter products available, but you should make sure you choose solutions that will not cause allergies or aggravate the acne. Initial topical treatment could include ingredients like salicylic acid, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide etc. This will help clear the dirt and sebum and unblock the pores.
●     If the topical applications are not effective, your doctor may suggest prescription medications that include medicine to control sebum production and antibiotics to control infection.
●     When taking these treatments, it is even more important to protect your skin with sunscreen. Topical applications for acne and prescription medications may make your skin more sensitive, easily affected by sunlight, heat and dust.
Mostly, comedonal acne will respond quickly to topical treatment if caught early, and more severe cases will respond well to medications prescribed by your doctor. However, do not expect to see results overnight, the blemishes may take some time to disappear and the medicines will take some time to bring the excess sebum production under control.
Kaya Skin Clinic Acne Product

Use good topical applications, take prescription medications if needed and take preventive measures to stop the acne from getting infected. Search for the best cream for pimples or light topicals that control the acne and gradually cure it, like Kaya Comedone Control Serum.
